Meeting Jennifer was an entirely different experience. I love the 'shoes off, cup of tea' feel of her studio and being in her home gives that added personal touch. Most importantly I felt that Jennifer was listening to my wishes and this became quickly evident in her design for my dress, which was exactly like the picture I had in my head. Over the following dress fittings this became an ongoing creative process, tweaking the design and structure of the dress to best suit my figure and the overall look, using Jennifer’s expertise to know what would suit me best. Despite being bespoke the dress actually ended up cheaper than most 'off-the-rail' dresses because all alteration costs are included

The final product was simply amazing, unique, well-fitting and exactly to our co-created specification. I genuinely felt like this was the best dress ever made, and in addition to this Jennifer made me feel like she had all the time in the world to make any adjustments that were needed, nothing seemed too much trouble. Our wedding day was perfect, everyone loved the dress and I felt really proud of what we had designed together, this would not have been possible without Jennifer. She takes much care and pride in her work, and this really shows. Don't mess about with off-the-rail dresses, design your perfect dress with a girl who really knows what she’s doing.”

"The Dress + Accessories….. The dress. I didn’t want to spend a fortune on the dress, but I did have a very particular idea in mind. I wanted tea-length, ivory, tulle skirt with lace bodice, and a sweetheart neckline. This was impossible to find, so I rang a local wedding dress designer, Jennifer Pritchard-Couchman, who I’d heard about through a friend. We fell in love over the phone, and as soon as I met her I knew she’d be perfect."

"Finding the dress…. I’d been in one shop after we first got engaged, in which the sales assistants suggested a tea-length dress would ‘dumpyfy me’. I was pretty dishearted by this at the time, but had seen a beautiful dress in the window of a shop in town which I’d wanted to try on. Bear in mind Phoebe was born in mid-January and I was looking at dresses in March – not the best time to be trying on a dress, particularly with a nude nursing bra on – you get the picture. I braved it with my mum, but it was pretty stressful, and I hated the whole thing. I’m bad enough alone in a changing room, but the whole ordeal of having women standing there and scrutinising was humiliating, I did NOT want to go through it again. So I was so glad when I met Jennifer!

She works from home after relocating from her big shop in town, and her whole attitude was so relaxed and positive. She’s the sort of person who always makes you feel happier after you’ve seen her, and she was so willing to make my dress for the budget I had which was £5–600.

I loved it even from the toile fitting, and my mum was so impressed that she also had Jennifer to make her an outfit, she almost upstaged me as she looked absolutely amazing. I felt fab in the dress, and the length was perfect – I couldn’t imagine anything worse than trying to dance in some floor-length restrictive number, or having someone escort me to the toilet, or having a child stand on my train!

Everyone said that my dress was perfect for me, and I felt so comfortable in it, I’d really recommend approaching a dress maker as it can be much more affordable than you might think. She even found me a perfectly olive ribbon for a sash. What more could you wish for?
